‘Non formal education for people with special needs’

About the project:

The cooperation project is aimed at the professional qualification of social work specialists in Europe. Our transnational project work focusses on professional exchange and learning about good practice in non-formal learning with disadvantaged people. In addition, a joint digital training programme on the topic is planned.

Over a period of two years, four 2.5-day workshops are planned, each of which will be attended by up to 15 professionals from the participating countries. The workshops will take place in each partner country. The aim of the exchange is to promote continuing professional development on the use of non-formal education programmes across national borders. In addition, we are planning a joint two-day training programme on the topic, which will be held in digital form.

Non-formal education is a term that describes educational processes that take place outside of the formal education system. In contrast to formal education, which comprises clearly structured curricula, lesson times and state-recognised qualifications (such as in schools, universities or vocational training institutions), non-formal education is characterised by flexibility, voluntariness and informality. This form of education aims to promote lifelong learning and support personal, social and professional development. Non-formal education is often inclusive and designed to break down barriers that make access to education difficult for certain groups. Non-formal education programmes are particularly valuable for disadvantaged people and people with disabilities. These groups can benefit from the flexibility, accessibility and customised content that non-formal education offers. However, the design and delivery of non-formal education programmes requires careful planning and a strong focus on the needs of participants.
