Caritas Social Counseling, with its counseling centers and regional office days, is the point of contact for people who find themselves in an existential emergency. In addition to counseling, financial bridging assistance is also provided.
The social workers in the counseling centers support people for whom housing and food are no longer guaranteed, for whom loss of employment, separation, divorce or other reasons have led to an existential crisis. The counselors provide information about legal rights and help to enforce them. Together with the clients, they plan and work out the necessary steps to get out of the crisis, working closely with other social services, offices, authorities and parishes. They offer material help such as food vouchers, baby equipment, clothing vouchers, etc. to bridge an emergency situation. The goal is to be able to master life again under one's own steam. This offer is aimed at Austrians, migrants, EU citizens, recognized refugees and people entitled to subsidiary protection outside of the basic care system.
Pregnant women are also given special counseling at all centers.
